Beware! Job prospects 發表於 2009年 7月 30日, 17:20
Last week, I received a phone call out of the blue from Ms "C" of Pacific Career, the recruitment agency that has never contacted me since I submitted an application 3 years ago.

Ms C invited me for an interview, and so logically, I asked if it would be a formal one. She said it would be a formal interview and stressed that they were not playing. Puzzled by her peculiar response, I tried to rephrase by asking if they had any potential job openings. Ms C went on saying that they did have jobs on hand, and in fact, if the interview went on well, I would be referred to the employer for further interview. So there I went on Monday, dressed and prepared, for the "formal interview".

What actually was going on was that:

1) This agency was trying to "match" me for a job in insurance sales, in which I have no interest and no career history.
2) The interview was, in fact, unprofessional, with Ms C, the "interviewer" having absolutely no knowledge of the job market and couldn't answer any of my questions about the job market and had no knowledge of event management, the industry where I came from.
3) Ms C the interviewer didn't know what the proper etiquettes were during an interview and was CHEWING GUM while she was "interviewing" me.
4) When I finally asked Ms C if they really had a potential opening for me, she told me to check out their company website, as well as Jobs DB and Classified Post!!

Friends, if:
1) you are looking for an insult (not an interview), or
2) you have too much time to waste, or
3) you would like to work as an insurance sales but are too shy to approach those companies or your insurance agents directly, or
4) you don't know Jobs DB and Classified Post are two of the most popular job searching channels and you want to be enlightened, or
5) you would like to be used solely as a training tool for inexperienced interviewers to practice interviewing, or
6) you want to hear lies or want to be given false hopes...

Then, my suggestion is to call Pacific Career.

And by the way, they take complaints ABSOLUTELY SERIOUSLY. Here's part of their response: "She was chewing gum because she was trying to make the interview more casual..."

Good luck!
